Meet the graduate students in Botany and Plant Science Symposium Planning Committee
Sabrina Gilmour, Symposium Planning Committee Chair, is a PhD candidate at the University of California Riverside in the Botany and Plant Sciences department. She also serves as the 2022-2023 Botany Graduate Student Association Co-President. She researches heat and drought stress response in the context of circadian regulation in the laboratory of Dr. Dawn Nagel. Her research is largely at the transcriptional level. When not in lab, Sabrina enjoys spending time with her recently adopted puppy, Loki.
Claire Mauss is a PhD candidate in Dr. Robert Jinkerson's lab at the University of California, Riverside. She also serves as the 2022-2023 Botany Graduate Student Association Co-President. Her research uses genetic engineering approaches to better understand and control plant development and architecture for controlled environment agriculture applications.
Marcus Harland-Dunaway is a PhD candidate in Dr. Robert Jinkerson's lab at the University of California, Riverside. He studies plant architecture and plant heterotrophic metabolism.
Aimee Uyehara is a fifth-year PhD candidate in Dr. Carolyn Rasmussen's lab where she studies cell division plane orientation in maize.
Mariano Resendiz is a first-year PhD student in Dr. Danelle Seymour's lab where he studies how genomic selection can be applied to disease resistance in citrus.
Claire Whitaker is a fourth year PhD student in Dr. Hailing Jin's lab at the University of California, Riverside. Her research is in the area of plant-pathogen interactions as mediated by extracellular vesicles.
Taryn Dunivant is a PhD student in the lab of Dr. Simon 'Niels' Groen, where she studies host-parasite interaction networks in a rice and root-knot nematode system.
Ally Richards is a second-year PhD student at the University of California, Riverside in the Botany and Plant Sciences department. She is studying ant-plant interactions in barrel cacti in the laboratory of Dr. Exequiel Ezcurra.
