My name is Baoning Wu. I am an earth science researcher who studies earthquakes. I mainly use this site to share my research. 

I am now a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Southern California. I recently earned my PhD at the University of California, Riverside. You may find more about me in my latest CV. 

My research covers a wide range of topics. However, a common theme is to re-evaluate existing theoretical models and to reconcile old and new observations. Some recent questions I investigated include: 

• What is the physical meaning of rate-and-state state variable,

• What is the physical mechanism of slow earthquakes,   

• How does Earth's surface affect the tsunami-genesis of subduction earthquakes,

• How to physically interpret the back-projection results of earthquake high-frequency radiation,
