Come to a great early winter season meet on our brand new poured track from GeoSurfaces.  All events are inside the stadium. 

Schools will be invoiced as follows:

For one gender: $70.00, For both genders: $100.00

Individuals' fees are calculated based on:

$25.00 per relay team, $10.00 for each athlete's first entry, $5.00 for each athlete's second and later entries

We intend to take up to 35 teams. Hope you can join us!

Dear Coaches, Athletes, and Spectators,


We’re excited for this year’s 3rd Annual Cold Turkey Invitational and we truly want to thank those of you that have decided to attend. Below is a list of things that will make the day run as smoothly as possible. Thanks again for your help and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the day.

Team Packets: Team packets can be picked up at the athlete entrance as you enter the stadium. Wristbands for coaches and athletes will be inside your packet. Athletes and Coaches will not be permitted to enter the stadium until they have their wristbands on. If you have athletes coming later in the day, it’s your responsibility to get their wristbands to them. 


Scratches: All scratches must be made by 10:00 AM, Friday, December 1st.  You can email scratches to Andrew.sparks@ucps.k12.nc.us



Field Events: Field event athletes should report to their event area at the first call to check-in. If a field event athlete is participating in a running event, they must check out with the event judge and be released before leaving for their running event. The athlete will have 10 min. to report back to their field event after being dismissed. After 10 minutes, if the athlete has failed to report back, their name will be called, the allotted time for their attempt will be given, and they will receive a scratch for that attempt. 


Starting Heights: Girls’ Pole Vault- 6’ 00”, Boys’ Pole Vault- 9’ 0”, Girls’ High Jump- 4’ 02”, Boys’ High Jump- 5’ 02”


Shot Put We will take the top 32 throwers in both boys and girls. Please be honest with any entries!


Distance Entries We will take the top 48 entries in the 1000, 1600 and 3200


Running Event Check-In: All athletes must check-in prior to their running event. Athletes will receive their heat, lane assignment, and hip numbers at check-in. 


Hip Numbers: Athletes will receive 1 hip number to be worn on the left seam of their shorts. 


Clerking: The 55m and 55m dashes will be clerked behind the 55m start. The 300m will be clerked behind the first turn.. The 500m will be clerked at the 100m start line. All other events will be clerked on the infield and then brought to the line. Athletes should report in full uniform, ready to race, when reporting to the clerk. It is the responsibility of the athlete to report on time and ready to race


Exchange Zones:

•4x200m Relay (we are simulating as near as possible the rules for JDL/Indoor State Meet)

            #1 Runner- White Start Line, Run In Lane.

            #2 Runner- 1st Gold Triangle to 2nd Gold Triangle, Run in Lane on Turn, then Break at Cones (normal #2 4x100 exchange zone markings 30m in lanes)

            #3 Runner- Blue Line to Blue Line (normal 4x400/800 exchange zone 20m due to no lane assignments)

            #4 Runner- Orange Tape Line to Orange Tape Line (20m exchange zones due to no lane assignments)

•4x400m & 4x800m Relays- Blue Line to Blue Line

 We will gather all relay athletes on the infield and then send them out to their zones. Make sure that your relay participants know their heat and lane assignment. 


Uniforms: All athletes must be in a school issued uniform when competing. T-shirts and shorts worn in the field events must be specific to Track & Field or just have the school’s name printed on them. Football, basketball, etc T-shirts should not be worn. Removing any part of the team uniform, excluding shoes, while in the area of competition, is illegal.


Electronics: No electronic devices will be allowed in the competition area. This includes cell phones, iPads, and video cameras. 


Infield:  Dependant on field conditions* Athletes may warm-up on the infield prior to their event and must leave the infield immediately after their event.  Only meet officials and volunteers are allowed on the infield.. Only meet officials and volunteers will be allowed on the infield during the meet. Coaches are not allowed on the infield unless they are performing a meet duty i.e. exchange zones, field events.


Coaches’ Lunch: There will be 2 coaches lunch tickets in the team packets in addition to one for any coach working an event. Coaches can pick up their lunch from the main concession stand at any time during the meet. 


Results: Heats, Flight, and Results will be posted online through New and Old Timers (check stands for QR codes). Results will not be posted in the stadium.

Awards: The top 3 athletes and relay teams in each event will receive medals. Individual awards can be picked up at the awards table after the completion of the event. The championship teams for each gender will receive trophies.
