Jeremiah (Jerry) Harris
Jeremiah (Jerry) Harris served with the Fifth United States Colored Troops from 1864 to 1866 as a private. After his service, he settled in Fort Scott, Kansas and served as the city's first blacksmith. According to his obituary, he was a peaceful man and he had many friends.
John C. Pendergrass
John C. Pendergrass served in the military for 26 years, rising through the ranks to Sergeant Major. In 1886 he served in the 10th cavalry against Geronimo's Uprising. After leaving the U.S. Army, John settled in Kansas and died at the age of 73.
