SW-PBS Tier 3 Advanced Training

This training is intended for MO SW-PBS schools that have already completed the first year of Tier 3 training.

Missouri School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports is hosting a series of four training sessions to assist school teams that are already experienced in FBA-BIP to further develop a team-based approach to intensive, individualized behavior support. Focus will be on-going guided practice with the FBA-BIP process & a deeper understanding of using effective strategies when developing the behavior plan. Teams will have the opportunity to participate in case-study examples & learn about ISIS-SWIS. In depth study of data collection & metric selection, exploration of research, managing & organizing student file information, and analyzing systems & practices for data management & decision making. Additional topics for these trainings will include monitoring fidelity of implementation, determining the extent to which stakeholders value interventions currently in place using social validity data, working to engage & support families of students receiving Tier 3 interventions, evaluating outcomes, and impact of intervention on student achievement. Tier 3 teams will also have the opportunity to share information, resources, practices, and ideas with other teams.

Outcomes for these sessions include:

  • Review FBA Components and Process using a student scenario - Shane

  • Use FBA/BIP Rubric to assess quality of existing FBA/BIP

  • Organize documentation for Tier 3 referral, FBA/BIP process using the Student File Checklist and digital folders

  • Develop an ongoing system for ensuring fidelity of implementation for Tier 3 Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

  • Evaluate the school’s Tier 3 system

  • Intensifying the 8 Effective Classroom Practices for individual students who require Tier 3 supports

  • Planning for sustainability

Audience: A building administrator and at least two additional staff members with expertise and/or interest in specialized behavior support should attend these sessions together.
