SW-PBS Tier 1 Emerging-Advanced Phase Training

There are no Tier 1 Emerging Phase Training Sessions Scheduled for this school year. Please contact your Central Region consultants if you have questions about beginning the work of SW-PBS at your school.

Missouri School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports will be hosting four training sessions for school teams that have completed the first two years of training. Content will emphasize the Eight Effective Classroom Practices, using data for quality decision making and sustainability of the process. All aspects of the Essential Components of SW-PBS will be reviewed and analyzed as a part of this implementation process. Teams will begin to prepare for the transition to Tier 2 interventions. These sessions are for current Tier 1 Emerging Advanced teams only.

Outcomes for the sessions include:

  • Engage staff in renewing ongoing commitment to a positive, proactive and instructional approach to discipline.

  • Create a system for monitoring staff-managed behavior to facilitate planning, teaching, and development of intervention efforts.

  • Selectively use the classroom practice, activity sequencing and choice, as needed to maintain student engagement.

  • Describe the ABC’s and function of behavior.

  • Identify the specific behaviors of the 7 phases of the Acting Out cycle and identify environmental supports that can be provided to intervene early in the acting out cycle.

  • Identify alternatives to suspensions and expulsion.

  • Formatively evaluate implementation of Effective Classroom Practices.

  • Assess readiness for Tier 2 with faculty and staff.

  • Use effective action planning to guide and monitor development and implementation tasks.
