The Missouri Leadership Development System Specialists in the Central Region offer a number of learning opportunities. Each is based on leadership experience and stage of leadership.
MLDS 1: This cohort is specifically designed for the building leader (principal or assistant principal) who is in their very first year of leadership experience. Through three cohort-session on campus, two coaching lab opportunities, mentorship and customized school visits, our aim is to support the new leader through the first year of critical experiences. If this is your first year as a school leader, you can enroll here. You can learn more about MLDS 1 with our New Principal Toolbox.
MLDS 2: For the leader in their second year of experience, we offer the MLDS 2 Cohort. We continue the learning we began in MLDS 1 and continue into more depth through three cohort sessions on campus, two coaching labs, mentorship, and a personalized school visit. If you are in your second year of leadership, you can enroll here.
MLDS 3/Leadership Academy: For the leader with at least two years experience, we offer MLDS 3. This cohort extends our learning into more timely and timeless areas through three on-campus cohort sessions and one coaching lab. We often tackle issues using a Problem of Practice learnign model. MLDS 3 can be paired with the MLDS Leadership Academy. This is a state-wide cohort designed to be transformational for the school leader. This cohort involves a two-day kickoff in June, the vaunted Outdoor Leadership Experience (OLE) in early November, a two-day Winter meeting, and a two-day Graduation the following June. To learn more about Leadership Academy, visit our special Leadership Academy Toolbox.
MLDS 4: After three years of leading experience, principals and assistant principals can participate in the Central MLDS Continuing Transformational Cohort. This group continues the Developing Level curriculum and forges into the Transformational Level curriculum. Featuring two regional meetings and two Coaching Labs, this group supports principals by exploring solutions to emergent problems of practice. This cohort adds new members each year and strives to help principals further refine their professional practice and network with other administrators. The cost for each participant is $200* and covers materials, meeting space, parking passes, and lunch. Register here for the Continuing Transformational Cohort.
