"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" showed a perfect example of the mono-myth description. The movie started with a despairing introduction of Harry being a slave to his aunt and uncle. There was no hope of him ever leaving his disgusting family.
Then there it was, the letter or should I say multiple letters, Uncle Vernon has been trying to hide from Harry. The letter was an invitation to Hogwarts the School of Wizardry.
Now although Harry and his allies were kids and beginners at the school, they showed great leadership and showed great courage. The characters they played were very strong willed. The characters complimented each other. Their characters wouldn't have been a certain way without the other.
Harry Potter succeeds with the epic story of being hero.
The movie didn't have a refusal of call. Harry accepted the challenge of every thing that was thrown at him. He was strong hearted and nosey. I don't believe it affected the story though. I believe it was still strong.
