PART 1

First read Thomas C. Foster’s How to Read Nonfiction like a Professor. This will help provide insight on how to better read and analyze nonfiction that will be part of the Honors & AP/DC curriculum.

For the summer assignment, read the chapters listed below. Make a copy of the Cornell notes to capture important information from the text.

Read the following chapters (click on the chapter read the PDF copy):

Chapter 5: It May Just Be Me, But...
Chapter 6: Source Code
Chapter 7: All in How You Look at Things
Chapter 11: Life from the Inside

PART 2:

Second, read Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah (CLICK HERE for a PDF copy to read. CLICK HERE for the audiobook). While reading Noah's memoir, take Cornell notes of the books and apply what was learned from reading How to Read Nonfiction Like a Professor.

All work is DUE AUGUST 24, 2026.

Be prepared to write an in class essay at the start of the school year using these text as evidence.
