I love collecting things—both physical and digital—rocks/minerals, stickers, obscure historical photos, and more!
Big fan of em dashes; expect to see a lot of that here :P

Hi there, Mel here. Welcome to my digital archive!
Here you'll find my thoughts on fictional universes across various media and the world around me—hence the website name, Worlds Unbound. Through building this website, I hope to better develop my writer's voice and practice my HTML skills. Consider this a trial run for my future personal site <3
I hope you'll enjoy your stay here :D
Mel is not my real name :P On the internet, I go by another name under the "avatar" of the character you see on the left there. Such is the beauty of anonymity—I can be my most authentic self when I am freed from the limitations of reality.
Feel free to leave a message before you go!
When I think of worldbuilding, the first thing that comes to mind is the many fictional universes found in novels, movies, comics, and other works of art. As our understanding of the world around us continues to evolve, I think it's fair to say that our imagination is heavily influenced by our environment and lived experiences.
To put my own spin on the famous saying "Life imitates art," I believe all art is inspired by life.
Take my own art, for example. Above are my original characters who are personifications of spacecraft and rockets :D Their outfits are inspired by different fashion styles and their real-life counterparts.
With every waking breath, we shape the world and the world shapes us.
Therefore, I say:
Art is a microcosm of human culture.
In other words, every artwork (creation of human imagination) is a reaction to the world we live in and reflects some part of human culture. This is the concept I'd like to explore in Worlds Unbound.
Big fan of sci-fi that takes place in a not-so-distant future.
What would the world look like in the year 2038? Only 13 more years to go guys...
I'm so enamored with the everyday life kind of imaginary technology in D:BH. Paper magazines replaced by electronic tablets, crosswalks that change color, and spray paints that project holograms, just to name a few.
Banger trilogy.
Story so good I made a self-insert character before I knew the word self-insert existed.
LOVE ALL THE DRAGON DESIGNS!!
I love how even though the scope of the world is pretty limited, it feels so rich and lively.
Complex biomes & ecosystems: predator/prey relationship between tarr slime and regular ones, slimes with features adapted to their natural habitats... the world feels so alive <3
Even the gameplay mechanics contribute to building the world. For example, fluctuation in plort values showcases supply & demand and implies a complex market system outside of the Far, Far Range. Also, the entire game basically relies on transportation technology.
Oh, my Clematis...
A world where Earth is destroyed (surrounded by space debris) and humans are kept as pets by aliens.
What makes ALNST especially cool is that it's a multimedia project. The main story is told through animations, but there are accompanying comics and illustrations that reveal more about the lore of the characters.
