Celebrations and Events
Our team meets weekly to discuss chemistry, group business, and celebrate milestones. We honor various traditions, including a state-of-the-lab address, Lee dinner, and farewell toasts. Group excursions include stand-up paddle boarding in the Newport Back Bay and glamping in Anza Boregga. We laughed, we cried, we ate too much. Photogallery.
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style. — Maya Angelou.
Visitors to the Lab
Thanks to an active symposium program at UCI, we have the chance to meet with chemists from all over the world. A few of these visits have been captured on video: Learn Scott Denmark's top speed, how Steve Buchwald named RuPhos, and why Rob Knowles was called baghead.
Intro to Orgo
These mini-lectures have been extracted from chem51A, a course Professor Dong taught online during the global pandemic. Teaching from home, Vy's co-instructor is her 4 year old son. We hope these analogies make organic chemistry more accessible for beginning students.
