Elizabeth Read is an Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. She holds undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Colorado and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Read’s research develops mathematical and computational tools for the study of biochemical networks and cell-biological processes. This cross-disciplinary work draws on engineering, the physical sciences, applied mathematics, and data science. Recent focus areas include the effects of biochemical “noise” on gene regulatory networks and the dynamics of the human epigenome. Dr. Read is a member of the UC Irvine Center for Complex Biological Systems and the NSF-Simons Center for Multiscale Cell Fate.
