About Us
Mission
We, as TDAP, embrace a diversity-centered identity as future educators to call others into the work of social justice, inclusivity, and educational equity.
Information
This program will regularly host events and update our online resources to prepare educators to advocate for diversity. This site is designed to be a helpful resource to everyone in the UCI MAT program and other affiliates to expand our collective knowledge on diversity in education.
Vision Statement
Teacher Diversity Advocates are committed to:
Developing ourselves as future educators by
elevating Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI)-consciousness among our fellow candidates
increasing access to diverse experiences as teachers
raising awareness on how to champion diversity in schools
Improving the MAT Program by
having candid conversations with leadership and faculty
hosting professional development opportunities and workshops to learn from education policymakers and K-12 teachers who engage in social justice practices
creating a healing space to center the voices and experiences of candidates who feel marginalized
making JEDI matter in the coursework and fieldwork
Land Acknowledgment
The Teacher Diversity Program acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which we learn and teach. We pay our respects to the Acjachemen and Tongva Nations and to their elders past, present, and emerging. We recognize their historical and continued connection to the land, water, and culture and we would like to emphasize this through our teachings.

Hello! I am currently a Single-Subject candidate for math at UCI. I graduated from UCSB with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Educational Studies. I am excited to be a first-generation graduate school student! I hope to become the MS/HS math teacher who would’ve been the teacher representation I wish I had growing up. I aspire to create more access and equity within my future classroom.

Hello! I’m a Multiple-Subject candidate on the Bilingual Authorization track in the UCI MAT program. I graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. My goal is to be an elementary school teacher in a dual-immersion school with the hopes of cultivating pride in bilingual students. I’m thrilled to be a part of the TDAP family this year and my ultimate objective is to bridge the barriers and equity gaps that exist in education.

My journey as a first-generation graduate student has ignited a fire within me to create a more inclusive and equitable world. Hi! I am a single subject English candidate in the UCI MAT program! I earned a B.A. in English from UC Riverside. I am so excited to be a part of the TDA team this year. My mission is to put diversity and intersectionality at the forefront of my teaching. This year, I want to make diversity matter to my classmates, colleagues, and students!
