Teacher Diversity

Advocacy Program

About Us

Mission

We, as TDAP, embrace a diversity-centered identity as future educators to call others into the work of social justice, inclusivity, and educational equity.

Information

This program will regularly host events and update our online resources to prepare educators to advocate for diversity. This site is designed to be a helpful resource to everyone in the UCI MAT program and other affiliates to expand our collective knowledge on diversity in education.

Vision Statement

Teacher Diversity Advocates are committed to:

Land Acknowledgment

The Teacher Diversity Program acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which we learn and teach. We pay our respects to the Acjachemen and Tongva Nations and to their elders past, present, and emerging. We recognize their historical and continued connection to the land, water, and culture and we would like to emphasize this through our teachings.

Hello! I am currently a Single-Subject candidate for math at UCI. I graduated from UCSB with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Educational Studies. I am excited to be a first-generation graduate school student! I hope to become the MS/HS math teacher who would’ve been the teacher representation I wish I had growing up. I aspire to create more access and equity within my future classroom.

Hello! I’m a Multiple-Subject candidate on the Bilingual Authorization track in the UCI MAT program. I graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. My goal is to be an elementary school teacher in a dual-immersion school with the hopes of cultivating pride in bilingual students. I’m thrilled to be a part of the TDAP family this year and my ultimate objective is to bridge the barriers and equity gaps that exist in education.

Hi! I’m a UCI MAT Multiple-Subject candidate and hope to become an elementary school teacher! I graduated from UCI with a B.A. in Psychological Science and a minor in Education. My journey as a first-generation graduate student has ignited a fire within me to create a more inclusive and equitable world. I've developed a profound appreciation for the value of diverse experiences and perspectives and am excited to be a part of a group whose goal is to amplify voices that often go unheard.
