The initiative started through a collaboration between researchers from the University of California, Irvine and the University of South Australia, and was first launched through the Human-AI Teaming and Inclusion Workshop at AIED 2025. We aim to grow this website into a shared repository of research, resources, and community efforts in this area.

📢 Join us at our 2nd annual workshop at LAK2026!
We invite researchers, educators, designers, and practitioners to join our 2nd annual Human-AI teaming workshop at LAK 2026. Building on the success of our first workshop at AIED 2025, we aim to continue this momentum and grow a vibrant, interdisciplinary community around Human-AI teaming.
As AI systems evolve from tools into active teammates, this workshop explores how human-AI collaboration shapes coordination, trust, participation, and inclusion in learning environments.
Rather than traditional paper presentations, this workshop emphasizes interactive engagement through design sprints, group discussions, and collaborative activities. No paper submission is needed.
Participants will:
Explore how AI can function as a social and relational teammate
Examine methods to analyze collaboration, equity, and inclusion
Co-design future directions for Human-AI teaming
Who should attend:
Researchers and practitioners in learning analytics, AI in education, educational data mining, learning sciences, HCI, and related fields.
Join us to help shape the future of Human-AI teaming in Bergen, Norway!

🙋♀️ So.. what do we do?
Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a collaborator in learning environments. Rather than acting only as tools, AI systems are beginning to function as teammates that interact with students, support collaboration, and shape learning processes.
Understanding how humans and AI work together and how these interactions influence learning, participation, and inclusion has become an important emerging research area.
This initiative focuses on Human-AI Teaming (HAT) in education and brings together researchers interested in how AI systems shape collaboration, participation, and equity in learning environments. The initiative started through a collaboration between researchers from the University of California, Irvine and the University of South Australia, and was first launched through the Human-AI Teaming and Inclusion Workshop at AIED 2025. We aim to grow this website into a shared repository of research, resources, and community efforts in this area.
Specifically, this initiative aims to:
advance research on Human-AI Teaming in educational settings
explore how AI systems influence collaboration, participation, group dynamics, and learning
examine inclusion and equity in human-AI collaborative environments
connect researchers across learning sciences, AI, HCI, and education
