Ricchiazzi had Faith in the Republican Party
Ricchiazzi believed that the queer community was making a mistake by putting all its eggs in the democratic basket. He argued that queer people entering political spaces no matter the side was important for political change. He also asserted that the Republican party should not be neflected.
Ricchiazzi argued that more queer voices within the Republican party would help foster much more change than queer voices entering the Democratic party alone. In doing so, he referenced other Republicans that had little issue with his sexuality in political spheres.
Ricchiazzi also staunchly believed that the queer community should not be politically defined by the AIDS crisis. While Ricchiazzi was a huge lobbyist for greater AIDS research, treatment, and understanding, he argued that the queer community cannot be defined by its action against the AIDS crisis alone. He argued that there was much more that could be done.
He believed that the queer community needed to work together - on all sides.
