Call for Papers - Workshop on Linguistic Minorities in Asia

The Workshop on Linguistic Minorities in Asia will take place March 22-23, 2019, at the University of Chicago Center in Hong Kong. The workshop aims to provide a forum to discuss specifically issues concerning linguistic minorities in Asia. Topics to be covered will include not only socio-political questions such as how minority languages are valued, by whom, and under what conditions, and how answers to the preceding questions influence how speakers utilize and react to minority languages, but also linguistic investigations of the minority languages, covering all aspects of their grammars.

We welcome abstracts from researchers investigating any aspect of linguistic research from a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches concerning linguistic minorities and minority languages in Asia. Research addressing critical questions such as how minority languages are valued, by whom, and under what conditions are especially encouraged.

The workshop will consist of oral presentations and a poster session. Abstract submitters may choose to have their abstract considered either for a poster only, for a talk only, or for a poster or a talk.

Selections of papers on the theme of the workshop will also be considered for publication in a special collection (the online equivalent of a special issue).

Anonymized abstracts (PDF, 12 point font, max 1 page text + 1 page figures and references) may be submitted via EasyAbstracts from http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/wlmhk2019. You may submit no more than one abstract as first author.
