The idea of teabox is simple: a box of tea delivered twice per quarter meant to expose you to and teach you about the world of tea. It costs $20 per box, which is as close to as-cost as possible. For those curious, here are all the brochures from the teaboxes from the 2020-2021 school year (Boxes 1-6):

If we could give you tea for free we would, but unfortunately, tea isn't free. Each teabox is $20.00 and your payment must be submitted before the teabox is purchased and sent out. However, our goal here is not to be cruel or disadvantage anybody, so if you have any concerns about paying for teabox please don't hesitate to email us at tea@uchicago.edu
