Do you allow auditors?
Unfortunately, we can not accommodate such requests due to high demand. Please sign up for the waitlist (https://waitlist.cs.uchicago.edu/) if you are looking for a spot.
Can I take part in the course if I did not take CMSC 25300 as the prerequisite?
253 or equivalent (e.g. Part 1 covered by https://mml-book.github.io/) is strongly recommended before you take 25400. Given that 253 is offered both this quarter and in the upcoming Fall quarter, we suggest you taking 253 first before you take this course. If you have to take 254 this quarter due to degree requirements, please go through 253 or the MML book to make sure you are equipped with the math and statistics background.
What if I cannot join the class hours due to unavoidable conflicts?
We are expecting to hold a few lab sessions during the lecture hours in Zoom breakout rooms over the Spring quarter. Class participation is not mandatory but highly encouraged.
What’s the best way to interact with the instructors and TAs?
Besides the live lecture discussions and office hours, the best way to reach out to us offline is via Ed Discussion. Before posting your question, please go through the questions posted and make sure that your question has not already been answered.
How do I participate in the class and office hours?
For live discussions during class time and office hours, find the Zoom link for the corresponding session on Canvas. You may be prompted to log in with your UChicago ID and password.
How do I access the homework and quizzes?
HWs and quizzes are not publically available, and can only be accessed through Canvas for students enrolled in the course.
