I will consider the factors behind the writer’s work while reading; I will try to do my best to better satisfy what readers want while writing. I need to have more considerations when writing an article. Since there are readers to read my article, I need to think about what readers want and what they are interested in. Most of the time, I will write whatever I want, and easily ignore the needs of readers. This method is very important because thinking about what readers need will help me to better understand my readers. I can write my article according to different readers. For example, there is a difference in writing when I write an article to my business manager and professor. Knowing the difference helps me to better complete the writing tasks they assigned to me.
The article of Higher-Level Integration: They Say / I Say and Writing as a Conversation explains lots of details on the way of incorporating sources, such as quoted claims that need to be tied with the author’s point, providing context when you cite others’ work, etc. I will use the they say/I say model when I write any essay because I always need others’ opinions to make my own opinion becoming stronger and more persuasive. Correctly using these methods also build up my credibility. The audience will have more trust while reading my article. Making my essay becomes more persuasive is my goal in writing.
I will use it on my science-related assignment because I need to read lots of sources and combine them into my essay. This approach is very useful and common. Academic articles always need to look up others’ opinions. Especially when it comes to science, students cannot come up with new findings, so looking up other sources that researchers made previously is important. By collecting their opinions and citing our articles, people always need to use the method of synthesis. As a result, it is very beneficial for me to write academic articles in the future.
Overall, I learned a lot in this class and also gained a lot by taking UWP 007 in this quarter. It builds up my confidence on writing. I will apply what I have learned in this course to other fields.
