In this module, students transition from learning about research to becoming researchers themselves by collecting and submitting data on salmon mortality rates in treated versus untreated groups through FieldScope. They learn proper data collection protocols, understand the importance of data quality, and explore how their contributions fit into the larger research effort examining TDC across multiple hatcheries. Through connections to traditional ecological knowledge and hatchery tours, students see how different ways of knowing (Indigenous practices and Western science) both contribute to conservation efforts.
