My name is Mary Claire (she/her), and I am a math Ph.D. candidate at University of California, Davis advised by Anne Schilling. I am also a co-organizer of the Davis Directed Reading Program.
My research interests are in algebraic combinatorics and representation theory. I study representations of groups and Lie algebras through discrete combinatorial models, specifically crystal graphs and symmetric functions.
My teaching philosophy is centered on encouraging mathematical and problem solving confidence in all learners. I have five years of experience working closely with students pursuing diverse majors and careers in precalculus and calculus courses, as well as math majors interested in research and applications.
