Jess Rudder

Agricultural and Resource Economics

I am a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Development Innovation Lab at the University of Chicago. I also work with Precision Development on digital extension systems. I obtained my PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California Davis. My research interests are development economics, industrial organization, agriculture, and econometrics.

I study how agricultural and commodity markets function in developing countries and how these market conditions affect food security. My working papers examine how small firms in rural markets respond to changes in market structure caused by new technologies, environmental shocks, and commodity price variation.
