For this project I chose my 10-year-old cousin Maria Anderson, she is a 5th grader getting ready to go to middle school next year. Her favorite color is orange because it's the color of the sunset and her favorite animals are dogs. She has a 5-year-old Shih Tzu named Roxy. Maria offers a valuable perspective, as she got a Nintendo Switch at the start of the covid pandemic so it was one of her primary ways of being able to connect with her friends and also a source of entertainment indoors. Additionally, beyond her tablet, the Nintendo Switch is her first piece of technology that she uses and her first gaming console. This reflects a continuing trend in how our society is growing more accustomed to children utilizing technology as a form of education and entertainment. As a result, it becomes a growing expectation that much of a child’s preferences and exposure to our culture will come from how they engage with certain pieces of technology and what apps and games they interact with.
This observation consists of 4 parts.
