During Class
Arrive on time. No latecomers who arrive 5 minutes past the start time. Due to staffing and security needs, we do not accommodate late arrivals.
If you're late and are turned away, you can return to the reading room on your own time as a researcher. See Visitor Information for details.
Upon arriving to Archives and Special Collections (ASC), sign in with your names.
Everyone must store their bags, coats/jackets, and other belongings in the lockers provided in the reading room. Again, no coats or jackets.
Also, no lotions, lip balms, or other skincare products, etc.
Only pencils* may be used to take notes.
Devices such as laptops, tablets, or phones may be used to take notes.
Everyone must be prepared before entering the classroom. Due to maintaining security in ASC and our office space, we need to minimize everyone from going back & forth between the classroom and reading room. If a staff member is present, they can escort you back to the reading room (and classroom) if necessary. Again, no going back & forth between the classroom and reading room.
No food* and drinks, including water bottles, are allowed in the classroom. If you bring a single-serving, covered beverage (e.g., hot/iced coffee, cold brew, etc.), finish drinking it outside the reading room before entering and before class begins.
* Only pencils may be used as writing tools. Erasable ink, pens, markers, etc. are not permitted.
* No food is allowed, including mints.
