Athletics September 4, 2025
The fall season ends for Prep athletics this week. It has been a season filled with skill improvement, teamwork, leadership, and learning how to win and lose with grace. On game day, there is a buzz in the halls as students ready for a home fixture or a trip with teammates to an away game.
Cross-country had a great season, and the U12 team led the way. They consistently finished near the top as a team and in the final meet placed second. The highlight of the season for the team was competing on home soil at the Norval cross-country meet under blue skies and warm temperatures.
Soccer is a big part of the fall in the Prep. Our teams from U10 to U13 acquitted themselves well on the field, and our U13 B team has qualified for the championships at Crescent this week.
Speaking of CISAA championships, our relatively new Year 7 flag-football team finished second in the league and will be playing in a semi-final on Thursday.
With the fall season ending, our focus will soon shift to winter sports. Tryouts for winter-term sports will begin the week of November 11. Please keep an eye on your email for commitment letters.
Go Blues!
Max Perren
Prep School Athletic Director
As the weather changes and the last of the leaves fall, the first season of the school year is coming to a close. The Upper School fall teams have had a terrific run thus far, with each team securing spots in the playoffs. This is a fantastic result in and of itself, and is a testament to the tremendous amount of work that each player and coach has put into their respective sports. Congratulations and best of luck in the playoffs!
October Highlights:
Jr and Sr cross-country teams secured births to the OFSAA championship — an outstanding achievement!
U16 hockey made it to the finals of the prestigious Wendy Dufton tournament in London, a 40-team event filled with some of the best teams in Ontario and the U.S.
The Fall Four rowers made history at the Head of the Charles Regatta, setting a UCC course record and finishing 14th in a field of 86, earning an automatic bid back to next year's event and re-establishing UCC as a powerhouse when it comes to rowing.
The Jr DI soccer team went undefeated in league play, earning the right to host all playoff games.
Our varsity tennis team had three boys move on from CISAA to qualify for OFSAA.
Varsity football had a nailbiter win over Selwyn House School at Percival Molson Stadium in Montreal, on Oct. 9, defeating them in OT 43-37.
