The Prep athletics season is off to a great start. Our teams from U10 to U13 have completed the tryout process, and by the end of this week, every team will have played at least one match.
The Prep cross-country team has travelled to two meets, and the results have been excellent. The U11 and U12 runners placed first as a team in the Havercrest meet.
Our U13 flag football team is competing at a high level and remains undefeated, boasting a 2-0 record. U12 volleyball had a mini meet last week and won both games. U14 volleyball begins its season this week.
On Association Day, the Prep hosted Soccer Fest, which was a huge success again this year. The students of the Prep came out to play for their colour house, and the competition was outstanding. Soccer Fest is a Prep event that includes every student from SK to Year 7. Soccer Fest was our second community event in the Prep after the Terry Fox Run. There will be many more opportunities for students to represent their school and colour house in events this year.
Fall is synonymous with soccer, and the Prep has nine soccer teams. All four U12 and U13 teams have recorded wins this fall — a great start. The U13 A team is preparing to compete in the CAIS National Championship in Montreal in October to defend their silver medal. Good luck to Mr. Evans and the U13 A team!
The fall season will end in the last week of October and winter tryouts will be held soon thereafter. Please watch Heads Up for information about winter athletics.

What an outstanding day filled with good food, face paint, bouncy castles, music, sport and great weather! Once again, A-Day was a fantastic event that proved what can be done when a community comes together towards one goal.
This past Saturday, 8 teams represented the College on the courts and fields putting all of their practice and hard work on display in front of over a thousand fans. The teams enjoyed great success capturing 7 wins versus some tough competition from Crescent School, Northern SS, and Bill Crothers. Sports has a way of teaching valuable life lessons such as: the importance of being on a team and valuing each member's contribution to the collective; how process, or the way we go about our work, is more important than the outcome; how to handle ourselves with dignity regardless of the final score; and how to enjoy a moment and be present. We're very proud of our teams and all that they have, and will accomplish throughout this fall season. Congratulations!
Some A-Day highlights include:
> A great turnout for the annual Michael Evan Jurist ’03 Tennis Tournament!
> The volleyball and soccer teams going undefeated versus neighbourhood rivals, Crescent School!
> A football halftime show filled with up and coming stars!
Looking ahead:
> The fall season is just getting going as all the competitive teams settle into the bulk of their schedules, which will take them until the end of October when playoffs and championships are held.
> On Saturday, Oct. 4 many of our teams will be travelling to Aurora to play St. Andrew's College at their homecoming. Please come out and cheer on your Blues!
> From Oct. 16-19, the varsity hockey team will be hosting the second tournament of the year for the Canadian Prep School Hockey Alliance (CPSHA) at the William P. Wilder ’40 Arena & Sports Complex.
