A group of students from both Seaton’s and Wedd’s set up a table at the entrance to campus to distribute candy and glow sticks to children in the neighbourhood. Mr. Jugoon was on hand to supervise and UCC staff and faculty who live on campus stopped by with their families as well, including Ms. Fleming, Head of the Preparatory School, Mr. MacDougall, Head of the Upper School and our very own Ms. Kanga, Director of Boarding! Neighbouring families enjoyed the warm smiles and treats being offered by our wonderful boarding students!
On a bright Saturday afternoon, Nurse Leah accompanied a group of boarders for an escape room adventure. The team of UCC boarders walked through the Forest Hill neighbourhood from campus to the venue and competed against other teams, to solve a challenge where a crew lost in space needed to figure out how to return to Earth. One boarder noted “Our creativity and teamwork was key to our success, and it was a lot of fun!”
Throughout the World Series, both the Seaton’s and Wedd’s Common Rooms were filled with students eager to show their support for the Toronto Blue Jays as they faced the Los Angeles Dodgers in an exciting 7-game series. On Friday and Saturday night, boys cheered and commiserated as the team did their best. While the outcome wasn’t the one any Jays fan wanted, UCC boarders showed their support and team spirit. Ms. Kanga ordered pizza one night and dessert the next and Mr. Jugoon was on-hand for the historical Game 6 and 7 watch parties held in Wedd’s.
