As Toronto experienced its first snowfall of the season, a group of 23 boarders who remained on campus during the mid-winter break participated in a culinary adventure to Chinatown where they enjoyed traditional Chinese cuisine served family style and hosted by UCC parents Sisi Liu and Hongke Zheng at Goubuli BAO Restaurant. Specialties such as fish soup, Peking duck, traditional bao and many others were served. After the delicious meal and traditional desserts, Year 12 students Diamond and Nik offered thanks on behalf of the group, noting that, “Many of us are far from home and as the weather turns colder, it was very nice to be together and enjoy a delicious meal of many favourite foods that we would have at home.” Our sincere thanks for a wonderful meal and opportunity to strengthen bonds between houses over a shared meal!
A group of boarders representing Seaton’s and Wedd’s, along with Ms. Jinha, played some intense games of Scrabble over the long weekend. From Year 8 to Year 11, players built out the crossword-designed game board, challenging themselves with some words and learning new ones. A spellbinding effect has overcome some of the boarders who enjoyed some competition and word-filled fun!
