The virus has made a recent comeback due to the reduced vaccination rates of certain populations. Measles vaccination has been routinely offered in Canada since the 1980s for children aged one and four (as part of the MMR vaccine). Public Health recommends we now all consider getting a single MMR booster, especially if we have had only one shot or have planned travel outside the country.
If measles is reported in our community, our local public health agency will likely request all staff and students to provide proof of their vaccination records promptly.
Measles vaccines are free for all Ontarians.
Where to get vaccinated:
Children: School-aged children can catch up on their routine vaccinations, including measles, by visiting their primary health care provider, some walk-in clinics or a Toronto Public Health community clinic. Appointments can be booked at TPHbookings.ca.
Adults: Adults can get vaccinated by visiting their primary health care provider and some walk-in clinics. Unsure of your measles history? If you are born before 1970 and are unsure if you had measles as a child, or you plan to travel — get one dose of the measles vaccine (MMR) for the best protection.

We invite you to join us at Norval for the Spring Open House on Sunday, June 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. All members of the UCC community are welcome to attend, including dogs (on leashes).
Come and visit to our beautiful Norval Outdoor School where you’ll have an opportunity to explore and participate in the following activities:
Norval Amazing Race: Try the Norval Amazing Race course which takes you around the property with more than 15 challenges to complete!
Crayfish Safari: Did you know there are 3 different kinds of crayfish that live in the Credit River? Help us catch (and release) some crayfish, and see what we can find. Please bring rubber boots for this activity, as you have to wade into water.
Check out the Norval Garden: Students have worked hard to create this appealing and educational garden filled with herbs, flowers and veggies. Spring is the perfect time to see what we've been growing, meet our vermi worms and plant some spring flowers with our Norval gardener.
Walking tours: Join us on a walking tour to learn about spring wildflowers and edible plants. It can be muddy, so please bring good walking shoes or hiking boots.
Food and refreshments will be available in Stephen House (please note that dogs are not permitted in Stephen House).
Click here to register or contact Cynthia Shipley at cshipley@ucc.on.ca.
Directions
Take Highway 401 west to Winston Churchill Boulevard. Follow Winston Churchill Boulevard north and go through the Village of Norval. Continue straight ahead. The entrance to the Norval property is on your left, 1.2 km north of the village stoplight. The drive takes about 50 minutes from UCC in light traffic.
