On Wednesday, April 2, the Community Relations Team and the University Counselling Office were delighted to host a Career Morning for our Year 10 students featuring about 20 alumni speakers who generously shared their diverse career journeys. Students listened attentively as these accomplished individuals discussed their paths since leaving UCC, highlighting the various industries they now work in. Students had the opportunity to engage and ask questions.
The alumni represented a wide range of professions, offering insights into fields such as health, law, social entrepreneurship, business, technology, the arts and more. They spoke about their day-to-day responsibilities, the skills and education required for their roles, and the challenges and rewards of their chosen careers.
This career morning provided Year 10 students with a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world insights into various professions, ask questions, and begin thinking more concretely about their own future career aspirations. The attentive engagement of the students suggests that this session was both informative and inspiring, offering valuable perspectives as they continue their academic and career exploration.
All Year 12 students have been instructed to update their Naviance account indicating all of the universities they are applying to and the outcome of your applications (acceptance, conditional acceptance, deferred, waitlisted, denied). When you have submitted an application, please use the edit function (pencil icon) in Naviance to mark it as “submitted” and include the faculty or program to which you have applied.
For our office to best support students, it's important that we know decision outcomes, especially now that offers from the most selective Canadian university programs will begin to roll out.
Be on the lookout for emails from universities to which you have been admitted regarding admitted student days and other programs during the month of April. These are great opportunities, both virtual and in-person, to learn more about the schools to which you’ve been accepted. Please see the University Counselling team with any questions as you plan and prepare for travel.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025 on the offers of admission that are coming to each of you. The hard work you have applied to your studies and the effort you have put into your applications has paid off.
While many students receive a clear offer of admission, there are some who remain in a state of limbo and are offered a spot on the waitlist. To understand more about how the waitlist works and what you should be doing, please click on the brief here.
