UCC’s annual homecoming and community celebration will feature entertainment, athletics, food and activities for the whole family. See the full schedule here. Don't forget to pre-purchase vouchers for the BBQ lunch and Snack Shack!
Plus — visit and explore The Lindsay Boathouse, the new UCC community rowing facility in Toronto's Outer Harbour. Register here to secure your seat on the bus at your preferred time slot!
The Horizons Program — a collaboration between UCC and several public schools in priority neighbourhoods — is dedicated to fostering mutual learning experiences in sports, arts, and academics among students. The Horizons' Learn to Skate/Hockey skills extends an invitation to community centres and public school students to join us at UCC to acquire skating and hockey skills. They receive coaching and support from UCC students. Thanks to the generosity of the UCC community, we are able to equip these students with the necessary gear to participate in this initiative.
During A-Day, you can find a collection bin at the Horizons table. Following A-Day, the collection bin will be relocated to the William P. Wilder Arena. Your contributions of gently used skates, helmets, and hockey sticks for children aged 7-16 will be greatly appreciated.
The program has been running for over 20 years; to learn more about it, please see here Horizons, visit the webpage, or contact Director of Horizons, Jyoti Sehgal.
We extend our heartfelt thank you for your support.
Did you miss the spring Used Textbook Return or perhaps you have textbooks you wish to return because of a class change? If so, UCC has arranged for the Canadian School Book Exchange (CSBE) to be in the Bernick Family Foyer on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accept your donations and to facilitate your returns.
Return a textbook due to a course change:
Log into your account and navigate to "My Orders." Please be sure to use the Upper School links for Upper School Books and the Prep School links for Prep School Books.
Locate the order with the item you wish to return and click "View/Edit Order."
Select "Request a return" to return items that are in policy for a return. Select "Yes" for the item you wish to return and "No" for the items you are keeping.
Select "Create Return."
When complete, a Return Authorization Number will show on screen, and you will receive an email with further instructions
If you are returning your textbooks at the school, place the Return Authorization Number and/or QR code slips in a sealed box and bring it to the school for drop off.
You may also call CSBE to obtain a Return Authorization Number and instructions at 1-800-335-5043. These textbook returns should be brought in a separate sealed box from used textbooks with the Return Authorization Number inside.
Selling gently used textbooks:
Select the "My Account" link in this email header and navigate to "Sell My Books." Please be sure to use the Upper School links for Upper School Books and the Prep School links for Prep School Books.
Select "Intake/Drop Off".
Print the QR code and put it in a sealed box with the used textbooks you wish to sell.
Bring the box to the Berick Family Foyer on Wednesday, Oct. 18. You may also select "Print & Ship" and follow the instructions if this date does not work for you.
Please ensure your books are placed in a sealed box with the Return Authorization Number and/or QR code slips inside. For multiple boxes, please place a printed copy of the QR code on each box. When your book is sold through the CSBE, a percentage of the sale will go back to you and a percentage will go toward the Parent Associations' fundraising efforts. It's a win-win!
Best regards,
The CSBE Textbook Team
Please join us for our annual Fall Open House at the Norval Outdoor School on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Fall at Norval is a time of beautiful colours and there will be lots of evidence of wildlife as most animals are preparing for winter. There will be a variety of outdoor activities such as visiting our apple orchard and making fresh apple cider, a fall hike with a scavenger hunt and a pumpkin painting station. Stephen House will be open, with food and refreshments available.
New activities this year:
Our community members can learn how to make small boats and then float them in the Credit River (or take them home to float on their own).
Families can also take part in printmaking and create their own Credit River fabric flag. This activity will be led by artists Dylan Gauthier, Kendra Sullivan, Freddie Ratkovsky and Brandon Latcham from the art collective Mare Liberum. The workshop is made possible by the Lind Art Fund.
Join us for an outdoor getaway with friends and family. Dogs on a leash are welcome too!
Please click here to register or email Amanda Vieira-Hasz in the Association Office or call 416-488-1125 ext. 2294.
Directions to Norval: Take Highway 401 west to Winston Churchill Boulevard. Follow Winston Churchill Boulevard north and go through the village of Norval. Continue straight ahead. The entrance to the Norval property is on your left, 1.2 kilometres north of the village stoplight. The drive takes about 50 minutes from UCC in light traffic.
