The boarding community enjoyed a wonderful Shabbat dinner on Friday evening, hosted by Ms. Metalin and members of the Jewish Culture Club. Day school peers and faculty joined the boarders for a dinner of connection and community, during which they shared blessings of peace.
It was the best of times, it was MEDIEVAL TIMES. On Saturday night, thirteen boarders from UCC, five boarders from BSS, and five staff members were transported back in time to the 11th century to experience daring deeds, feats of chivalry and half a chicken each. The stunning display of live falconry was a particular highlight, but all participants enjoyed the food, cheering and comradery. Despite our knight failing to win a single bout, cheers of 'Go Blues Go' echoed through the arena. The students returned to campus with smiles on their faces, full of stories and having made some meaningful connections with BSS boarders. Huzzah!
On Sunday, the boys in Wedd's made salt-dough ornaments, which they will hang on our house Christmas tree; these ornaments will be used every year, and then the students will take them with them when they graduate. Accompanied by Christmas music and some live guitar from John and Diamond, and whilst snacking on sushi (courtesy of Gavin Gu's mum), cupcakes and sugar cookies, our ornaments range from the classic tree to the Fleur-des-lilies and a very detailed Christmas Pig.
