Rugby | Crescent vs. UCC

This past Friday many students from our boarding and day student community took the 15-minute trip Northeast of our campus to watch our varsity rugby team battle against a familiar competitor at the Crescent School. This Friday Night Lights event stands as a staple in the Crescent School calendar and is a well-attended event for students, parents and alumni. This year was no different with hundreds of fans crowding the sidelines cheering for their respective teams. UCC did well to support our boys on the field by cheering loudly and proud from the sideline for the duration of the game. Even when Crescent went ahead in the match, the energy remained high as we eventually mounted our comeback. The players on the field battled hard going back and forth, displaying skill, strength and resilience. In the end, the margin was too large to overcome and our hometown boys ultimately took the loss. Nevertheless, the night was a great success full of positive memories and fantastic energy.

Canada’s Wonderland

Ten boarders enjoyed the sights and sounds of Canada’s Wonderland this past Saturday. Joined by a lovely cohort of BSS boarding students, the UCC boys enjoyed tackling all three most popular rollercoasters at Wonderland (which typically is relatively impossible if we were to visit later in the summer). The UCC group stuck together throughout the park, enjoyed a sunny lunch of subway sandwiches, and shared stories with the BSS students. It was a great day!

Student BBQ in the Quad

This Sunday, the senior students hosted the first student-run BBQ of the season. The boys enjoyed attempting to start the grill, which was ineffective — and so they opted for a backup plan; cooking the burgers in the Aramark kitchen. The food was enjoyed by staff and students in the Quad, surrounded by frisbee and football games. The cherry on top was the ice cream truck, which visited after dinner and led the boys out onto the turf field for soccer. We are looking forward to many more student-led events — especially surrounding food!
