This weekend, the UCC and BSS boarders joined forces to weave past walls of lasers, dance on pressure-sensitive floors, hide from walls of eyes and complete time-sensitive games of agility and reflexes. However, they weren't completing an elaborate heist, they were at Activate, an immersive arcade experience that blends traditional arcade games with flashing lights, fitness, and teamwork. In teams of five that spanned both schools, houses, and all years, the students worked together to master each room's increasingly complex levels. Many of them earned a prize by the night's end, and all forged new friendships.
On Saturday night, a small group gathered for board games in the Seaton's common room. Boarders learned a couple of new games: Set, a challenging card game where players compete to identify cards with features in common, and Magic Maze, a cooperative game where players work together (and without talking!) to move pieces around the board to complete a heist before time runs out.
This past weekend, our community joined for another RAO cup competition between our boarding houses, Seaton's and Wedd's. This weekend's competition was volleyball, and the game did not disappoint. Both houses showed a lot of heart, competing until the very last point and proving that the boarding community is truly committed to supporting each other and coming alongside your teammates. In the end, Seaton's came out on top, winning two sets out of three and raising the intensity of the RAO cup race. Ultimately, all students had a fantastic experience, and it was great to kick off this year's (2024) RAO Cup competitions with yet another nail-biter.
