Staff recollections:
I would like to start by saying thank you to the boarders' families who gave us the privilege to take our group of Boarders to Mont Orford this long weekend. It was an experience I will not soon forget. I appreciated the mix of skiers, from experts who put novices to shame (like myself). Regardless of your skill level though, it never felt like you were having a subpar experience. This weekend the students showed their resilience and passion on the hills! We look forward to making the boarding ski trip an annual event!

What a wonderful weekend! Snow, snow, and more snow! Thank you for all of your support in making this ski weekend a success. We had three days of skiing at 500-850m elevation with beautifully groomed runs and off-piste powder. Over the days our boarders were able to develop life skills and athletic abilities, ranging from organizing themselves on the slopes to helping cook some amazing evening meals! I had so much fun participating in the cooking, guiding at some stages, and learning from the boys at others. My favourite ‘thing’ about this trip is the overall building of stronger relationships with one another—witnessing friendships becoming stronger, and knowing that these moments will translate into lasting memories.

The Family Day weekend ski trip provided a wonderful opportunity for UCC boarders to step outside their comfort zone to experience true winter fun. Several students had never skied or snowboarded; two had never seen snow before December. Some had never been in a cultural environment where the primary language of communication was French. Several students had never cooked for themselves, and certainly not for a larger group. Having the opportunity to live in a chalet in the Eastern Townships, east of Montreal provided a wonderful ambiance for all in attendance. At the end of the trip, one boarder said the trip provided a wonderful opportunity to mix Seatonians and Weddites from different grades. It was fun for the staff in attendance to see students smiling as they learned to ski, and even broader smiles when mastering the art of making apple sauce and receiving thumbs-up approval from their friends.
