Locate your Y1 Reporting Term
Elementary School Courses are the only courses that assign Y1 Grades. You will set up Y1 Grades the same way MS and HS set up Semester Grades. See below.
MS and HS Courses need to make sure Y1 Grades are turned off.
Click the Edit Pencil and follow directions below.
Elementary Only
Depending on your school policy, your S1 Grade Calculation will either be set up as Total Points or Term Weighting.
Total points will tally all the points in S1 and S2 and add them as total points. If one grading period has a lot more points than the other, that grading period will weigh more heavily on the Y1 grade.
Term Weighting will average S1 and S2 as you weight them (most typically 50/50).
Exact Value Earned will average their percent to the decimal
For K-12 Exact Value Earned is preferred.
Term Weighting Points will average their letter grade (A=4, B=3)
Not common in K-12
HS/MS: You will need to turn off Y1 Grade Calculations so that the students do not see a grade in that reporting term. This can be very confusing to parents and students if it is left active.
HS/MS: Where you see the Calculate Overall Class Grade, Click to Uncheck
Then click Save

Term Weighting will average Q1 and Q2 as you weight them (most typically 50/50).

Depending on your personal grading practices, you should either set up your grades to be weighted as Total Points or Category Weighting.
Total points will just average all the assignments evenly based on the number of points assigned.
Most commonly used if you weight your assignments manually with points. More Points = Weighted More
For example: Tests: 100 pts; Quiz: 40 pts; HW/CW 10 pts
Category Weighting will average all the assignments in the specific category and then multiply it by the weight assigned to the category.
Most commonly used if you don't want to pay as close attention to the number of points per assignment, quiz, test, etc. because they will be averaged and multiplied by the weight of the category anyway.
If you want to weight grades by category, but you want to customize your category types:
