1.1 Teaching Methods of the Teacher that I observed
The pre-service English teachers were coordinated under the name of Filipino-English teacher, Mr. Marcelo A. Maderal. One thing that I love about the class observation was evoking the capabilities of the students, specifically honing their English skills. Encourage the students to engage in discussions, apply concepts in real-life situations, and use critical thinking to solve problems.
1.2 Their Learning Materials and Innovation
During my observation, the teaching methods I witnessed were diverse, blending lecture-based instruction with active discussions and hands on activities - it can be orally or a group task. On the other hand, one of their teaching approach relies on the textbook as a primary source of information. The content of the textbook provides a thorough lessons/topics, and the lessons are delivered through technology, and whiteboard. The teacher integrate real-life examples to make the lessons relatable to students.
The teacher integrates music and real-life situations that students can relate to. The textbook is a primary source of information, helping the students track the lesson independently. The teacher maximizes using the whiteboard to highlight important information and gauge whether the students can still follow the lesson.
In my observation, the teacher track the progress of the students through asking examples and letting the students think about the given scenarios. These kind of assessments are aligned to learning objectives and all the practices related to topic cater the needs of the students.
