Placencia
Where Is It?
The Peninsula and Village of Placencia is located in the Stann Creek District in southern Belize and is accessible by land from the Southern Highway near the village of Santa Rosa. The 18-mile long narrow stretch of land begins in the community of Riversdale, continuing to Maya Beach, Seine Bight Village and ending at Placencia Village located at its southern most tip. The Peninsula is only a mile at its widest and is positioned between the Placencia Lagoon on the west, and the Caribbean Sea on the east.
Tourists Love It!
Placencia is home to one of Belize's most popular tourist destinations due to its large selection of resorts, guest houses, hotels and white sandy beaches. It boasts the narrowest main street in the world (according to Guinness World Book of Records) and has many of the country's award winning restaurants and resorts. Based on the most recent national census conducted in 2010, the entire Placencia Peninsula is home to 3,458 people, including the communities of Maya Beach, and Seine Bight.Â
