This full year, project-based, laboratory course will run as a prototype for the 2021-2022 school year. Co-taught by Mr. Theado & Mrs. Moore, the class will invite students to understand, improve and explore challenges and possibilities within our school and the world beyond its walls. Students will have the opportunity to choose between two pathways— The Student Innovation Team or the UA Idea Day team— and regardless of which one they choose, all students will set goals, seek feedback based on real-world performance reviews, develop leadership skills, and learn how to use visual boards to manage projects. Students will benefit from expertise and mentorship from community experts who will serve as a brain trust, as well as from the direction of teachers and administrators within the building. All student leaders will learn, practice and implement design thinking within their spaces to find opportunities, solve challenges, and develop a culture of innovation. Due to the constraints of the prototype, course numbers will be limited, and while it is open to 10th, 11th and 12th graders, preference will be given to upperclassmen.
