We recently acquired a re-configurable LED Wall. Besides essentially being a very large screen with better detail and color than a projector, it allows us a variety of neat project ideas that wouldn't have been possible before, the biggest example being Virtual Production in a similar way to how Hollywood is beginning to move it's TV and Film production workflows in. Additionally, since it's reconfigurable, due to it's rearrangeable interlocking panels, we can also create a wide variety of esoteric and abstract setups far more unique than a general widescreen large TV screen.
60 interlocking square LED panels comprised of 192x192 RGBW LEDs
Each panel then houses 36,864 LEDs each
Over 2 million LEDs/Pixels in total (2,211,840 to be exact)
240hz Refresh Rate
Cabinets/Panels can lock together at -12, -6, 0, +6, +12 degrees, allowing for curved displays
About 16.5' x 9.8' when assembled into a 10x6 configuration, this roughly equates to a 16:10 screen resolution
Ultra bright at 1,200 nit (measure of luminance or brightness)
Below you can see a slideshow of various photos taken when we first got all the parts shipped in, and began putting it together and testing it
Below is a demonstrative graphic of possible LED configurations (including the way our new truss system can be setup to hold everything in place) - All of these are modeled to scale, and really for more of our own internal benefit for future uses
Our first real project utilizing the LED Wall can be found on my Virtual Production project page.
