My name is Tauheed Alim, and I was born and raised in South Philadelphia. I attended Bodine High School before earning my bachelor’s degree in English from Lincoln University. In the summer of 2025, I earned my Master’s in Education along with my certification in Secondary Education (Grades 7–12). Currently, I am in my seventh year of teaching and remain deeply passionate about inspiring my students. My goal is to foster a lifelong love of learning while making a positive and lasting impact on their futures. Each day, I strive to create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where every student can thrive.
Course Description
Writing for Social Justice is designed to support and enhance academic achievement for scholars in English Language Arts through a culturally significant and engaging curriculum. Lessons are based on current and historical events, both in the news and in art. Social and race theory is closely examined throughout the course, along with making connections to the larger world through current events. This curriculum also supports and engages students who are predominantly living in an urban environment and bring various levels of learning. Core examinations include media literacy, reporting, and the study of African American artists and their creative works. Scholars’ understanding of the urban experience, overcoming adversity, and defining one’s culture is explored through 20th- and 21st-century seminal works of art, current events, and journalism.
