Scholarships
General Note
Given the extended effects of the pandemic, the resources of the university are limited. As a result, priority will be given to students with greater financial needs for this academic year.
Merit scholarships are highly competitive study grants that may cover up to 100% of tuition fees. In addition, the top applicants of each batch may also be awarded a stipend, book allowance, and board and lodging allowance (for provincial applicants).
The scholarship may continue up to the graduate level of the University’s five-year or six-year programs or to the MA or MS program of a corresponding AB or BS program. To keep the scholarship, you must:
Maintain a cumulative GWA no lower than 1.75, evaluated at the end of each school year;
Maintain a passing grade in each enrolled academic and non-academic subject;
Maintain a continuous regular full load for each semester prescribed by your program of study;
Hold a clean disciplinary record;
Not avail of a merit scholarship from any other source; and
Comply with all other requirements set forth in your Merit Scholarship Agreement.
The University also gives financial assistance to Filipino students who meet certain criteria. The grant may cover up to 100% of tuition fees. It is renewable every year and is premised on continued financial need. Solely dependent on the availability of funds, it may continue up to the graduate level of any of the 5-year or 6-year programs.
To qualify for financial aid, an applicant must meet the following minimum conditions:
Financial need, as attested to by the family’s finances;
Academic competence: a high school average of at least 85%;
Favorable recommendation from the principal/school head of the school where the applicant completed high school; and
Positive interview evaluation.
Solely dependent on the availability of funds, the financial assistance may continue up to the graduate level of the University’s five-year or six-year programs or to the MA or MS program of a corresponding AB or BS program. However, the assistance is premised on continued financial need. In addition, you must:
Comply with the cumulative GWA requirement as stipulated in your Financial Assistance Agreement;
Maintain a passing grade in each enrolled academic and non-academic subject;
Maintain continuous full-time status;
Hold a clean disciplinary record;
Not avail of a study grant from any other source;
Maintain a satisfactory service record based on your performance evaluation from the unit to which you are assigned as a student assistant; and
Comply with all other requirements set forth in your Financial Assistance Agreement.
If you fail to fulfill any of these conditions, you forfeit any financial assistance grant from the University. However, you may apply for renewal up to a second time at the beginning of the school year if either the need is re-established or the requirements are met.
Student Assistantship
Financial assistance grantees must render some hours of student assistantship in a unit of the University to which they are assigned for one school year. The number of hours to be rendered depends on the percentage of the grant awarded to the student.
Student assistantship work shall be administered by the Center for Student Affairs – Office of Student Services in coordination with the other units of the University (for 1st to 3rd year students), and by the respective schools of the grantees (for 4th and 5th year students).
The relevant unit of the University shall give a report on each grantee’s performance to the Scholarship Committee at the end of each school year. The level of financial assistance you are given may be modified based on your performance as a student assistant.
Athletic Scholarship
UA&P recognizes the importance of sports in the holistic development of its students. It also recognizes the contribution of student-athletes to institution-building with their efforts to boost school spirit and gain recognition for the University through their achievements in sports competitions. Thus, the University established the athletic scholarship program under the management of the Center for Student Affairs to support athletes and varsity teams. Specifically, the program aims to:
Recruit outstanding incoming student-athletes to form part of varsity teams; and
Incentivize current outstanding UA&P student-athletes.
The UA&P Athletic Scholarships are scholarships awarded to student-athletes who excel in sports and academics. The scholarship is for one academic year (i.e., two continuous semesters) and may be renewed every year thereafter, provided retention requirements are complied with. The scholarship may be in the form of:
Partial (25%, 50%, 75%) to full (100%) discount on tuition and other fees
Non-tuition grants (e.g., stipend, board and lodging allowance)
The UA&P Athletic Scholarship program defines the following terms:
UA&P student-athletes are varsity students who make up the University’s roster of varsity teams that represent the University in athletic competitions.
Outstanding academic performance refers to commendable academic standing through attainment of GWA of 2.25 or higher per semester, and maintenance of such academic standing in the succeeding semester and/or academic year.
Outstanding athletic performance refers to athletic ability beyond average. This could be assessed through the athlete’s portfolio which details athletic achievements such as:
recognition of athletic performance from institutions and/or organizing bodies (e.g., sports associations and leagues, tournament organizers), such as individual awards and recognitions, speaking and/or performance invites
recruitment and/or membership in commercial leagues, and the National Team or its training pool;
qualification in district, regional, national, or international meets and competitions;
