U-PyME, es el fruto del Proyecto de Investigación "Mejoramiento de procesos con Lean Seis Sigma, para aumentar la competitividad de las empresas del sector de hotelería y turismo vinculadas a la Mesa de Turismo del Grupo Multisectorial - MejorTour", desarrollado por el Grupo de Investigación de Trabajo en Comunidad - KHIMERA (Fundación Universitaria Católica Lumen Gentium) y el Grupo de Investigación en Competitividad y Productividad Empresarial - GICPE (Universidad Autónoma de Occidente), que plantea como objetivo principal el diseñar un modelo de mejoramiento de procesos con Lean Seis Sigma, para el aumento de la competitividad de las empresas de la ciudad de Cali, del sector de hotelería y turismo vinculadas a la Mesa de Turismo del Grupo Multisectorial, en un esquema de colaboración sostenible (Arquitectura) Universidad-Empresa.
Desde nuestro portal, pretendemos acercar más la academia con la industria nacional, mediante la disposición de recursos y herramientas de utilidad para estudiantes, docentes y empresarios, pues nuestro modelo reconoce la importancia de la educación para el desarrollo de la industria, tal y como se representa en la figura, en donde, desde la Vista Superior del modelo, se representa en el eje horizontal, el Nivel de Especialización en el Conocimiento, es decir, a manera que avanza el tiempo, se conocerán y aplicarán nuevas herramientas de ingeniería, con la aplicación de la metodología DMAIC, lo que aumentará el Nivel de Perfeccionamiento en los Procesos (impacto).
La Vista Frontal relaciona también cómo el Nivel de Especialización en el Conocimiento impacta en el Nivel de Calidad en el Servicio (o Producto), fruto de la implementación de la metodología DMAIC.
Finalmente, la Vista Derecha del modelo, confirma que al aumentar el Nivel de Perfeccionamiento en los Procesos, se reflejará en un aumento del Nivel de Calidad en el Servicio (o Producto).
Si bien el proyecto inicial se enfocó en la Metodología DMAIC, otras metodologías para la solución de problemas en ingeniería pueden ser aplicadas según el caso puntual.

U-PyME, is the result of the Research Project "Process improvement with Lean Six Sigma, to increase the competitiveness of companies in the hotel and tourism sector linked to the Tourism Board of the Multisectorial Group - MejorTour", developed by the Research Group on Community Work - KHIMERA (Fundación Universitaria Católica Lumen Gentium) and the Research Group on Business Competitiveness and Productivity - GICPE (Universidad Autónoma de Occidente), whose main objective is to design a process improvement model with Lean Six Sigma, to increase the competitiveness of companies in the city of Cali, in the hotel and tourism sector linked to the Tourism Board of the Multisectorial Group, in a sustainable collaboration scheme (Architecture) University-Business.
From our portal, we intend to bring the academy closer to the national industry, through the provision of useful resources and tools for students, teachers and entrepreneurs, since our model recognizes the importance of education for the development of the industry, as it is represents in the figure, where, from the Top View of the model, the Level of Specialization in Knowledge is represented on the horizontal axis, that is, as time progresses, new engineering tools will be known and applied, with the application of the DMAIC methodology, which will increase the Level of Improvement in the Processes (impact).
The Front View also relates how the Level of Specialization in Knowledge impacts the Level of Quality in the Service (or Product), as a result of the implementation of the DMAIC methodology.
Finally, the Right View of the model confirms that by increasing the Level of Improvement in the Processes, it will be reflected in an increase in the Level of Quality in the Service (or Product).
Although the initial project focused on the DMAIC Methodology, other methodologies for solving engineering problems can be applied depending on the specific case.
