Pumpkin Pie (30 cm x 30 cm)

(im)Possibilities

A patient comes to the physician with a plethora of experiences. Chronic illness does not define who the person is but rather extends the experiences of the individual. While others may believe the illness to be debilitating and overwhelming, patients draw upon their experiences and the support of the people around them to create a new life in which the illness is only a part rather than the whole. Our pie demonstrates the integral nature of illness and person. The original pumpkin pie is the individual and the illness is the strawberry filling introduced after the fact. While some may consider the pairing to clash, it is through demonstrating resilience that the pie is made whole once again.
