The Art of Acceptance is a visual and symbolic representation of the journey many people go through when faced with chronic illness. Our drawing is inspired by the personal stories shared with us by our mentors. They shared with us the thoughts that plagued their mind as they dealt with the diagnosis, represented by text in our drawing. We juxtaposed colours and shades to represent the opposing attitudes and feelings our mentors experienced while deciding to accept their illnesses. The trees and winding paths emphasize the confusion, uncertainty and sort of chaos, while the bench and dove represent clarity, peace, and contentedness.
