Enhanced Skills

The postgraduate program of the Department of Family Medicine offered five Category 1 enhanced skills program in the 2019-2020 academic year:

  • Care of the Elderly

  • Emergency Medicine

  • Family Practice Anesthesia

  • Palliative Care

  • Sport and Exercise Medicine

Following a presentation from Drs. Krishna Balachandra and Mat Rose about the possibility of establishing a Category 1 addictions medicine enhanced skills program, the Enhanced Skills Residency Program Committee (ES-RPC) agreed to begin the process of establishing this program. The program will be based out of the Boyle McCauley Community Health Centre, where six of the physicians currently have a certificate of added competency (CAC) in addiction medicine.

Beginning in 2020, applications to all Category 1 enhanced skills programs across Canada accepted applicants through CaRMS process.
