The Technology and Learning Sciences Lab (TALS) is a collective of researchers and graduate students in the Faculty of Education that take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of technology for educational purposes. To date, researchers in TALS have conducted research and development on such topics as Virtual World, Game-based Interventions for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Adolescents, Place-based Learning in Virtual Environments, Digital Literacy Measures, Video Game Creation as a Mechanism for Teaching and Learning, Virtual Campus Student Orientation to Postsecondary Education, Multi-Modal Augmented Reality for Training Healthcare Professionals, Robotics in Education, e-pedagogical strategies for Aboriginal Teacher Education Programs and Blended instructional delivery.

Graduate students in TALS pursue MEd and PhD degrees in the specialization of technology in education across numerous topics such as virtual communities of practice, multitasking in virtual learning environments, methods of on-line feedback and mobile technologies in postsecondary education. TALS students typically have opportunities as teaching or research assistants for courses and projects that incorporate Educational technology. They are trained in the theory and practice of educational technology as well as research into human behaviors and learning. TALS graduates often contribute to Educational Technology Leadership at both postsecondary and K-12 levels of our educational system.
