SAMPL

The SAMPL research lab is located in the Faculty of Education, University of Alberta. We are a part of the School and Child Clinical Psychology (SCCP) Program, one of the two professional psychology programs at the U of A, accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). Evidence-based assessment and measurement as well as advanced quantitative methods are foundational for all projects at the SAMPL lab. Our research studies focus on developing a better understanding of evidence-based assessment of risk factors for psychopathology. In particular, we are working on developing more valid and reliable methods of assessing temperament/personality across the lifespan, with a particular focus on the emergence of maladaptive traits and associated impairment. The SAMPL lab is also a part of the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) Consortium, where we contribute to the research literature on improving the organization, description, and measurement of psychopathology. In particular, Dr. Kotelnikova is an active member of the Clinical Translation and Measures Development Workgroups. We are also a part of the Centre for Research in Applied Measurement and Evaluation (CRAME) at the University of Alberta. Please see our projects page for more details.
