EE is a very diverse discipline with a large student body, but many students do not feel connected to the opportunities and resources available to them. As VP External, my goal is to make our External portfolio more visible, approachable, and impactful for students. By strengthening industry partnerships, improving networking accessibility, and increasing early engagement within our discipline, I want to ensure that the EE Club provides meaningful professional opportunities for everyone.
Making External Visible and Active
One of my priorities as VP External would be increasing the visibility of what External initiatives are happening and how they benefit students. Partnerships and sponsorships should not exist quietly in the background; students should be able to clearly see how these relationships create opportunities for them.
If elected, I would work to provide consistent updates on industry partnerships, sponsorships, and upcoming professional development events. This transparency will help students stay informed and ensure that External initiatives feel relevant and accessible to the broader EE community.
Creating More Approachable Networking Opportunities
Networking is an important part of professional development, but many traditional networking events can feel intimidating, especially for second and third-year students. I believe we can make these opportunities more approachable by creating smaller, lower-pressure events where students feel more comfortable asking questions and building connections.
Some examples of this include smaller networking mixers, internship preparation sessions, and speed-networking formats that allow students to interact with multiple professionals in a more structured and welcoming environment. By reducing the barriers to participation, more students will be able to take advantage of these opportunities.
Strengthening Industry Partnerships
Industry partnerships should provide tangible value to students beyond sponsorship logos. As VP External, I would focus developing partnerships that lead to meaningful engagement between students and professionals in the field.
This could include initiatives such as industry-led technical talks, career pathway panels, and sponsor-supported design challenges that allow students to work through real-world engineering problems. These partnerships not only benefit students by exposing them to industry perspectives, but also allow companies to engage directly with emerging engineers.
Sponsorship Package
As part of strengthening our external partnerships, I would also work to update the EE club's sponsorship materials to reflect the 2026-2027 academic year. Maintaining current and professional sponsorship packages helps ensure that potential partners clearly understand the opportunities available to collaborate with our club and support student initiatives.
Supporting Early Engagement and Outreach
Early engagement can play an important role in helping students feel confident in their discipline and career path. I would like to support events that introduce first-year students to EE through open discussions about internships, projects, and career opportunities within the field.
Additionally, I am interested in exploring opportunities for outreach to younger students, including potential collaborations with local schools. Introducing younger audiences to engineering can help inspire future students and strengthen the broader engineering community.
Ultimately, my goal as VP External is to ensure that the connections our club builds with industry translate into real opportunities for students. By making networking more approachable, partnerships more meaningful, and opportunities more visible, I hope to create an External portfolio that actively supports the professional growth of our EE community.
