Within the data collected we found that across all treatments, small animals were predated upon the most at 301 times (with a mean predation of 5.01 animals per trail camera observation point), large animals were predated upon the second most at 175 times (with a mean predation of 2.92 animals per trail camera observation point), and medium sized animals were predated upon the least at 174 times (with a mean predation of 2.9 animals per trail camera observation point).
Data results on legacy cutlines showed a total predation on small animals at 122 individuals, a total predation on medium sized animals at 84 individuals, and a total predation on large animals at 83 individuals.
Data results on low impact cutlines showed a total predation on small animals at 126 individuals, a total predation on medium sized animals at 64 individuals, and a total predation on large animals at 71 individuals.
Data results in areas of no cutlines showed a total predation on small animals at 53 individuals, a total predation on medium sized animals at 26 individuals, and a total predation on large animals at 21 individuals.
Below is an exploratory graphic to help visual the mean differences between prey sizes being predated upon at each cutline treatment.
Fig.11 A bar plot comparing the mean ±1 SE amount of animals predated upon by wolves in legacy cutlines, low-impact cutlines and areas with no cutlines. Bar colours differentiate between prey sizes (i.e. small, medium, large).
